Melinda Rosenberg won the 15th annual Ruby Noble Memorial Award, given to the student with highest musical grade point average at Eileen Mattioli Music Studio.
Rosenberg, first among 115 students, received a plaque and a $140 cash prize. Her name will be engraved on the studio's permanent plaque.
Melinda, a 1994 graduate of Boca Ciega High School, will be a senior at the University of South Florida. Her major is philosophy and she plans to pursue a doctorate. She has been a piano student of Susan Pierce Uibel at Mattioli Music Studio for three years.
She is the daughter of Dr. Stanley and Nancy Rosenberg of St. Pete Beach.
Pianist rated excellent
Latoya McCormick, 16, won an excellent rating in the piano division of the Florida Vocal Association Contest. She is entering 10th grade at Northeast High School.
McCormick is a piano student of Eileen Mattioli and is the pianist for the choral class under Michael Vedder. In 1994, she won the Ruby Noble Award.
She is the granddaughter of Mary and Leroy Hamilton of St. Petersburg.
