Lee and Lucille Barsi of Safety Harbor recently celebrated their 55th anniversary with family and friends at a dinner at Castaways Restaurant in Tampa. The couple were married July 5, 1941, at Our Lady of the Angels Church in Chicago and came here in 1978 from Jacksonville. He owned Northern Communications Systems. She worked as a regional manager for Welcome Wagon International. The Barsis, who are members of Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor and Suncoast New Neighbors Club, have six children and 13 grandchildren.
Dick and Joyce Judd of Largo celebrated their 50th anniversary June 15 with a renewal of their vows and a party. The couple were married June 15, 1946, in Buffalo, N.Y., and came here from Buffalo in 1979. He worked as a roofer and she was a clerk. The Judds have a daughter.
John and Nancy Modica of Seminole recently celebrated their 50th anniversary with a renewal of their vows at Blessed Sacrament Church in Seminole and a reception at Banquet Masters in Pinellas Park. The couple were married June 22, 1946, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Camden, N.J., and came here in 1978. He is an Army Air Forces veteran and a life member of Knights of Columbus. The Modicas, who are members of the Elks, Moose and John Paul Lodge Italian Club, have three children, four grandsons and a stepgrandson.
Robbie and Jean Robbins of Largo recently celebrated their 50th anniversary with a dinner party given by their children at East Bay Country Club in Largo. The couple were married June 29, 1946, in New Orleans and came here in 1956 from Shreveport, La. He worked for 25 years at West Coast Garage and 12 years at Reynolds Construction and now works for Overstreet Paving. She worked at Universal Cigar Co. in Clearwater. He is a veteran of World War II. The Robbinses have two daughters and a granddaughter.
Donald and Peggy Simpson of Clearwater celebrated their 50th anniversary June 22 with friends and family on a dinner and dance cruise. The couple were married June 22, 1946, in New York City and came here in 1955 from Virginia. He worked as a field representative for Equifax Services in Atlanta. She worked for the classifieds department of the Clearwater Sun. The Simpsons have two children and three grandchildren.
