Hudson Rotary Club selects new officers

William "Bill" Spicuglia will serve as president of the Rotary Club of Hudson for the coming year.

Other officers are Dan C. Rasmussen, sergeant-at-arms; Michael Peters, treasurer; and Thomas P. Knowles, secretary.

Peggy D. Bridges, Cedric Hay, Joseph Stagliano, James Budday, John R. Isaacson and Connie Martilik are directors.

The club meets for lunch at noon Mondays at Ryan's Steak House, State Road 52, Bayonet Point.

Service projects include the support of a women's shelter; the Holy Ground Homeless Shelter; the Food Locker program, year-round; scholarships, both academic and vocational; and a Rose Show in the fall.

Local Elks honored

at Orlando convention

David Luikart Sr. and Eugene Hagmeyer of New Port Richey were honored at the recent State Elks Convention in Orlando.

Luikart was appointed president of the Florida Elks Children's Hospital Committee. He will direct a state coordinating committee that is responsible for providing liaison between local Elks lodges in Florida and the hospital.

The hospital provides treatment and rehabilitation services for children 16 and younger through the major facility in Umatilla.

The Elks lodges provide a major portion of the operating costs for the hospital through local fund-raising activities, bequests and other gifts.

Luikart is a trustee for the Harry Anna Trust Fund, which coordinates the long-term financing for the hospital. Luikart has served as state president of the Elks and was exalted ruler of the New Port Richey Elks Lodge. He has been an Elk for 40 years.

Hagmeyer was elected West Central District vice president of the Elks, an area including the New Port Richey lodge. He has been an Elk for 20 years and has served in various offices, including exalted ruler of the New Port Richey lodge.
