A convicted rapist released from prison last year was arrested after police caught him raping a teenage girl in her bedroom.
Alan Husted, 30, of West Palm Beach, was being held without bail Monday in the Palm Beach County Jail. He was charged with two counts of armed burglary, two counts of aggravated assault, armed sexual battery and kidnapping.
Last summer, Husted was released from prison after serving eight years for a crime in Pasco County. In 1987, Husted was convicted of threatening a brother and sister with a knife in their Hudson home and sexually assaulting the 14-year-old girl.
West Palm Beach police said that early Sunday, Husted crept into a town house by cutting the sliding screen door with a knife while the 15-year-old girl and her mother were sleeping, police said.
He sneaked upstairs to the teenager's room, threatened her with the knife, forced her to undress and then raped her, police said.
The mother awoke to the sound of her daughter's cries and went into her bedroom, but Husted chased her out with the knife, police said.
She ran to her room and called 911. When an officer arrived, he found the attacker in the teenager's room.
The assailant shut and locked the bedroom door and jumped off an upstairs balcony. He broke his ankle when he landed and was arrested, police said.
