Completion of training

Marine Lance Cpl. Dominic L. Bowman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny L. Bolden of St. Petersburg, has completed the Marine Corps Basic Supply Course at Marine Corps Service Support Schools, Camp Lejeune, N.C., and has been promoted to his present rank at Headquarters and Service Battalion, Marine Corps Combat Development Center, Quantico, Va. Bowman was promoted based on sustained superior job performance and proficiency in his specialty. He is a 1995 graduate of Dixie Hollins High School.

Army Pvt. Michael W. Coker, son of Lora T. Chipman of Auburndale and Jessee E. Coker of St. Petersburg, has completed basic military training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

Navy Seaman Recruit David M. Nash, son of Linda M. Nash of St. Petersburg, has completed basic military training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Nash is a 1993 graduate of Gibbs High School.


Navy Hospitalman Apprentice Matthew R. Allen, son of Valerie I. Cadoret of Gulfport, has graduated from the Basic Hospital Corps School at Naval Hospital Corps School, Great Lakes, Ill. He is a 1993 graduate of St. Petersburg High School.

Air Force Master Sgt. Douglas A. Rishel, son of Kay and Norman Rishel of St. Petersburg, has graduated from Southern Illinois University summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in education and was promoted to his present rank at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Rishel will report for duty in September as a station chief weather person at Ossan Air Base, Korea.

Air Force Tech. Sgt. Victor J. Yancey, son of John L. and Roberta T. Yancey of St. Petersburg, has graduated from the Air Force Non-commissioned Officer Academy at Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City. He is a 1981 graduate of Boca Ciega High School.


Army Sgt. (E-5) Michael R. Hamilton, formerly of St. Petersburg where he attended Northeast High School, was promoted to his present rank while serving at Scoffield Barracks, Wahiawa, Hawaii. He recently re-enlisted for four years and will be stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, where he will be accompanied by his wife, Andrea, and son, Justin. Hamilton is the son of Sharon Montano and stepson of Phil Montano of Port Richey.

Deployments and Assignments

Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Gino P. Caruso, son of Peter and Jean Caruso of St. Petersburg, has reported for duty aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Active in Port Angeles, Wash.

Navy Airman Kelly D. Boyce, son of Warren C. and Linda M. Boyce of Kenneth City, Navy Seaman Alex R. Dill, son of Susan and Walter Dill Jr. of St. Petersburg, and Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Patrick S. Ennis, son of David and Mary J. Ennis, also of St. Petersburg, have returned from the six-nation maritime exercise "Rim of the Pacific" aboard the aircraft carrier USS Independence. Boyce is a 1992 graduate of Dixie Hollins High School, Dill is a 1993 graduate of Gibbs High School and Ennis is a 1982 graduate of Admiral Farragut Academy.

Marine Cpl. Daniel V. Pepe, son of Vincent and Jane Pepe of Pinellas Park, has completed his tour of duty and will be honorably discharged from the Corps in August. Pepe has served in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Okinawa and South Korea. At the time of his discharge, he will be serving at Camp Lejeune, N.C. The 1992 graduate of Pinellas Park High School plans to attend Fire College in Ocala and become a Certified Florida Fire Fighter.
