Meditation and Inner Guidance _ David and Karen Gamow believe that there's a difference between practicing wishful thinking or imagining in your life and tapping into your inner voice as a guide to living. The Gamows, long-time meditators who live in Ananda Village, a yoga community in California, will teach two workshops at First Unity Church in St. Petersburg this week. "How to Know and Trust Your Inner Guidance," from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, will help participants learn to hear their inner voice and draw from it direction and the courage to face the unknowns in our lives. "The Healing Power of Meditation," from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, will offer techniques and one-on-one instruction in this practice that has been credited with quieting the restless mind, helping establish emotional balance and contributing to good health. Both programs will be at the church, 469 45th Ave. N. To register (required), call 527-2222. Fee: $25 Sunday, $15 Monday.
Creating Intimacy _ Counselor Lorraine LaBarre of Marriage and Family Counseling of Pinellas teaches this workshop to help couples learn to strengthen good relationships and heal difficult ones. She encourages development of a more solid sense of self at the same time that you work toward more intimate connections with others. The workshop will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, 2451 Enterprise Road, Clearwater. Fee: sliding scale according to income and number of dependents. Advance registration required; call Kathy, 726-9408.
