The monthly unlimited ride fare card used by county bus riders will be replaced Oct. 1 by a 31-day unlimited ride "Go Card" that Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority officials say will give mass transit users more flexibility.
Under the current system, the monthly unlimited ride fare card costs $40 and can be used an unlimited number of times during the calendar month in which it was purchased. That leaves people who bought the cards after the first of the month at a disadvantage.
For the same price, bus riders will be able to use the "Go Card" as many times as they like for 31 consecutive days after it is first used.
Sales of a similar 7-day "Go Card" offered since October are selling 44 percent better than the former weekly unlimited ride fare cards, PSTA marketing director Jill Cappadoro said.
