A couple who recently moved to South Carolina from Largo died in a traffic accident Wednesday evening in that state, authorities said.
Robert and Karen Lollis, who used to live at 13203 Gladys Road in the Largo area, were driving a 1984 Ford Mustang in Anderson County, S.C., when their car was hit by a Ford pickup.
Robert, 57, died at the scene. Karen, 53, died after being rushed to an area hospital, said Steve Sulligan, a trooper with the South Carolina State Highway Patrol.
The couple had recently moved to a town called Honea Path, according to Greg Shore, a deputy coroner in Anderson County.
Robert Lollis was believed to have failed to yield at a stop sign and was considered at fault in the accident, Sulligan said.
The driver of the pickup, Robert Beckworth, 38, of Belton, S.C., also was taken to the hospital, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
