Mark McGwire leads the majors with 36 home runs, despite missing the first 18 games with an injured foot (he's played in 78 of the A's 102 games). McGwire, shown here hitting No. 36 Wednesday, is averaging a home run every 7.2 at-bats, and 0.462 homers per game he has played. If he maintains his per-game pace and plays in each of Oakland's remaining 60 games, he would hit another 28 homers this season. Give him back the 18 games he spent on the disabled list in April, and he would have 44 homers and be on pace to hit 72. In his past 162 games, he has homered 67 times.
