Head Start Center named
The West Tampa No. 1 Head Start Center, 2103 N Rome Ave., will be named in the memory of Deloris McCloud, a 16-year county employee at the day-care center. Hillsborough County commissioners will dedicate the center in a ceremony starting at 10 a.m. today, honoring McCloud for working with dozens of low-income youngsters and motivating their parents to get involved in their children's health and well-being. McCloud died in a car accident in February. Co-workers, family, friends and Head Start Foundation will join the county commissioners as they rename the facility the Deloris H. McCloud Head Start Center. Head Start, an early childhood and family development program for children ages 3 to 5, provides education, health care, parent involvement and social services. Sixty children are enrolled in the full-day program at West Tampa No. 1. A special presentation will be made to McCloud's husband, Rudolph, and their three daughters during the ceremony.
