PENINSULAR CHRISTIAN CHURCH

LOCATION: 3600 Ballast Point Blvd., Tampa; 839-6027

SERVICES: Sunday Worship 10:45 a.m., (Children's Church at same time), Sunday night service with small group ministry from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Spanish service at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Tuesday night Bible studies: women's from 6:30 to 8 p.m. men's from 8 to 9:15 p.m.

HISTORY: The members of the church first began meeting in homes in the early 1950s. One was the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Blanton, who are still church members. The first regular worship service was held in the church building on July 18, 1954.

LEADERSHIP: Kent Riner has been pastor for 13 years. He graduated from Oral Roberts University with a bachelor's degree in the New Testament and a minor in psychology. He earned his master's of divinity from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Mo. He has been married to Becky for 18 years, and they have two children, Dan, 15, and Kelly, 14. Mrs. Riner is a homemaker.

RECENT SERMON TOPIC OR THEME: From the book of Corinthians: "Reaching our community with God's love."

MEMBERSHIP: 280 members

PROGRAMS: Bible studies, Spanish services and Bible studies, prayer meetings, music ministry, senior ministry, youth group, crafts group and a basketball team.

OUTREACH TO THE COMMUNITY: Narcotics Anonymous, Emotions Anonymous, Cub Scout troop, Little League team, voting precinct, homeowners association meeting place, supports Metropolitan Ministries with money and supports various missions.

NOTABLE: Missions are important to the church. Each summer either adults or youths are sent out to the missionary field. This summer, the pastor's son is in Russia, and his daughter will be leaving for Guyana soon.
