Sheriff deputies are still looking for the suspect who shot a Plant City man several times in front of a Dover mobile home Thursday night.
Anthony Manriques, 36, of Plant City was walking at 10 p.m. in front of a friend's mobile home at 1020 Blakenship Road when a man ran up to him and shot him in the upper torso and head, sheriff's officials said. Manriques was flown by helicopter to Tampa General Hospital, where he remained in critical condition Friday night.
"We heard boom, boom-boom, and then saw someone jump over that fence and run into the woods," said neighbor James Well, 46, who was watching the Olympics when the shooting occurred. "It's actually a really quiet neighborhood.
Sheriff deputies used a canine unit and a helicopter to search the area but were unable to find the suspect. Two other men were in the mobile home at the time of the shooting, but they declined to comment.
