Windham denies Miracle

Mike Windham, who entered Friday's game with a 3-9 record, pitched 8 shutout innings and gave up two hits in the St. Petersburg Cardinals' 6-0 victory over the Fort Myers Miracle at Lee County Sports Complex.

Windham, part of a Cardinals staff that leads the league with a 3.04 ERA, struck out four and walked one. After giving up a single to Doug Mientkiewicz in the second, Windham retired 17 straight batters until Armann Brown's two-out double in the bottom of the ninth. Kevin McNeill took over and struck out the final batter.

LAKELAND 8, DUNEDIN 0: Cameron Smith gave up three hits, struck out nine and walked one in seven shutout innings to lead the visiting Tigers.

Ryan Freel had two of the Blue Jays' five hits.

SARASOTA 6, TAMPA 1: The host Yankees had 10 hits, but left 14 runners on base.
