First National Bank of Pasco on U.S. 301 in Dade City and NationsBank on Church Street in Dade City tied for the top spot in the sixth annual Battle of the Banks blood drive, sponsored by the Citrus Regional Blood Center.
The first Battle of the Banks had only four participating banks and 18 collected pints of blood. This year, 16 Zephyrhills and Dade City banks registered 122 donors, and 90 units of blood were collected during the weeklong contest.
Citrus Regional Blood Center is a non-profit blood center that supplies blood and blood components to medical facilities in three counties. Locally it serves patients at Columbia Dade City Hospital and East Pasco Medical Center in Zephyrhills. For information on hosting a blood drive, call the center at (813) 788-4625.
