The Citrus Park 9-10 softball all-stars advanced to the winners' bracket of the state tournament with a 12-2 win over Golden Gate American while the Bloomingdale senior all-stars dropped into the losers' bracket, losing 11-2 to Boynton Beach.
Citrus Park's Nicole Forbes went 2-for-3 in the four-inning game (shortened by the 10-run rule) leading off the first with a double then scoring on a fielder's choice by Brittany Beaudin.
Citrus Park will play Callahan, a 5-4 winner over Federal in Saturday's other game, at 5 p.m. at East Point Little League.
Bloomingdale, which fell behind 6-0 after two innings, will play Inverness, a 1-0 loser to defending national champion Naples, at 2 p.m.
Bloomingdale tried to mount a comeback, rallying for two runs in the third after an RBI single by Jennifer Wittenbort, but Boynton Beach put the game away in the final innings, adding five more runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh. And Citrus Park senior baseball won 2-0 over Section 2.
