The U.S. men's team was eliminated from medal contention by a 35-26 loss to Croatia in the highest scoring game at the Atlanta Olympics. The United States is 0-3 with three games left. Irfan Smajlagic scored 11 goals and Patrik Cavar added 10 for Croatia, which moved to 3-0. The Croatians are tied with Sweden for the lead in Pool A. Sweden never held much of a lead, but beat reigning European champion Russia 22-20. In another Pool A game, Switzerland won its first game with the most lopsided victory at the Atlanta Games, 33-16 over Kuwait. Spain beat Algeria 20-14 in a Pool B game, and Egypt beat Germany 24-22.
