Tampa temperature is one for the books

Under a blistering sun with little breeze to speak of, Tampa recorded the hottest day of the summer for the Tampa Bay region on Sunday. At 98 degrees, the city also broke a record set in 1993. Sunday's temperature also matched the hottest July day on record since 1942, said Eric Oglesby, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. "This is usually the rainy season," Oglesby said. "We haven't seen rain now in about a week. No rain is expected until Tuesday.
