An arson fire destroyed a vacant apartment in West Tampa on Monday morning, injuring no one but causing $40,000 in damage.
The Tampa Fire Department responded at 7 a.m. to a 911 call about a fire at a two-story wood building with four apartments at 4812 Habana Ave. Within 30 minutes, firefighters extinguished the fire, which only damaged one unit.
The fire had started in several places, which indicates arson, said Tampa fire Capt. Bill Wade.
