Fire damages tanks, shed at plant

An electrical short in a panel box appears to have caused a fire Saturday afternoon at Riverhaven Wastewater Treatment Plant, 11309 W Riverhaven Drive. Citrus sheriff's reports indicate that a storage shed was burned and two liquid chlorine storage tanks were damaged by heat. Damage totaled about $2,000. Hazardous materials officials visited the scene to make sure nothing spilled from the tanks.

Robbery report false, sheriff says

BEVERLY HILLS _ Citrus County sheriff's deputies have determined that a 76-year-old man's report that he was robbed last week in the Winn-Dixie parking lot on County Road 491 is unfounded. Sheriff's spokeswoman Gail Tierney said the man found his wallet, which he had said contained several thousand dollars. The man had told deputies that he visited the store about 11 p.m. July 23 and was approached by two men, who stole his wallet. Tierney said investigators are not sure what happened that night and will close the case.
