Kong, Liu win all-China final
Kong Linghui and Liu Guoliang of China won the gold medal in men's doubles, defeating defending champions Lu Lin and Wang Tao of China 21-8, 18-21, 21-19, 21-17. After the match, Wang and Lu, partners since 1989 and world champions in 1993 and '95, announced they were ending their partnership. In the bronze-medal match, Lee Chul-seung and Yoo Nam-kyu of South Korea defeated Germany's Steffen Fetzner and Joerg Rosskopf.
U.S. remains winless
The U.S. women's team finished 0-3 in its round-robin pool, falling 31-21 to China. The United States faces Angola, also 0-3, for seventh place on Thursday. In other women's games, Germany beat Angola 27-12, Denmark defeated Hungary 27-22 and Korea edged Norway 25-21. Korea and Denmark, both 3-0, plus Norway and Hungary, both 2-1, already clinched berths in the medal round.
