A Sulphur Springs man was shot as he drove home about midnight Saturday. Ramon Atiles, 36, was driving at 8119 N 19th St. when he heard a "pop," police said. He felt a sharp pain, then looked at his shoulder, and realized he had been shot. He had just turned off N Nebraska Avenue onto Juneau Street.
At home, 10 blocks away, he called police.
Atiles said he did not see who shot him.
A helicopter airlifted him to Tampa General Hospital, where he was treated and released, a nursing supervisor said.
The bullet damaged his shoulder, but the injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
