Tickets for '98 regional going on sale

Tickets for the NCAA Tournament Southeast Regional men's semifinals and championship game March 20 and 22, 1998, at Tropicana Field go on sale through the mail only beginning today.

Mike Davenport, president of the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Area Sports Foundation, said 25,328 lower-level and club seats are available and cost $80 for the two sessions (three games) and 15,261 upper-level seats are available at $60. No single-session tickets will be sold.

No phone orders or hand deliveries will be accepted.

Payment must be made by check, Visa or MasterCard. Include your name, address, day and evening phone numbers, and level and number of tickets desired.

Make checks payable to Tropicana Field. For credit card orders, include card type, account number, expiration date and name as it appears on the card.

Mail orders to: Tropicana Field, Attn: NCAA Tickets, 1 Stadium Drive, St. Petersburg, FL 33705.

Tickets will be mailed before Feb. 15.

Tropicana Field will seat 40,589 for the games.

In 1994, the facility set an NCAA Tournament record for attendance at a Southeast Regional site when it drew 26,102 for second-round games between Marquette and Kentucky and Duke and Michigan State.

UNC: The Tar Heels will have to wait to find out the status of sophomore guard Vince Carter, the team's third-leading scorer and best perimeter defender, who injured his groin midway through the first half in Saturday's 72-56 victory over Colorado in the second round of the East Regional at Winston-Salem and didn't return to the game.
