A nightly curfew for Pasco County youths 17 and younger took effect Friday. The ordinance, approved by county commissioners March 10, bars youths from public places from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m. Friday, Saturday and legal holidays. Those youths attending religious functions, involved in emergencies or returning from school activities, work or civic functions are exempt. First-time violators get a written warning. Repeat offenders will be fined $50. During the ordinance's first weekend, no one was cited for a violation.
