Can a doctor or dentist charge interest on an unpaid bill? Harry Regg Jr.
Response: There is nothing in the Florida Statutes that addresses the question of billing practices of medical doctors and dentists.
Doctors do not typically charge interest, said Caryn Craddick, executive director of the Pinellas County Medical Society. However, there is nothing to prevent them, or dentists, from doing so as long as the interest rates they charge are not usurious.
