A man who authorities say attacked one of his neighbors and held him down in the street by the throat has been charged with battery and a weapons violation. Peter Falla of 4281 Tahiti Drive was cruising his neighborhood at 2:30 a.m. Saturday when he spotted a man walking by himself down Orient Drive, said a Hernando County sheriff's report. Falla, 50, yelled at the man, and when the man didn't respond, Falla jumped out of his car and hit him, the report said. Falla then held him to the ground, grabbed him by his throat and demanded to know what he was doing there. Falla released his grip after the other man, William Jagger of 4066 Orient Drive, said he was a neighbor. Deputies charged Falla, a welder, with simple battery and discharging a firearm in public.
The first name of Bill Andryusky, director of the Evergreen Woods Retirement Center in Spring Hill, was reported incorrectly in a story Monday.
