Lynn Magoffin of the Tampa Tribune has been elected president of NACORE International. Luli Cannon, of Barnett Bank, is executive vice president; Karen Bremer, of Outback Steakhouse, vice president; Dolores Seymour, of Arnold Associates, vice president of membership and Steve Rogers, of Watkins Motor Lines, as secretary/treasurer. The following have been elected directors: Stuart Rogel of Tampa Bay Partnership, Robert McLean of Annis Mitchell, Jeanette Flores of Carlton Fields and James Sebesta of the Diocese of St. Petersburg. Ellen Scherer of American Express was elected regional director.

Rusty Gordon has joined GLE Associates Inc. as facilities engineering specialist.

Evin L. Netzer, an attorney with the business law firm of Salem, Saxon and Nielsen, has been appointed to a four-year term on the Hillsborough County Educational Facilities Authority. The authority makes recommendations to the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners regarding the issuance of revenue bonds for construction of classroom and other facilities at higher education institutions in Hillsborough County. Netzer graduated from the University of Florida business school and law school.

Rachel Weissman, senior account agent with Allstate Insurance, has moved her office to 1511 Sun City Center Plaza. Weissman recently was appointed to the board of directors of the Sun City Center Area Chamber of Commerce and was elected vice president of the board.

Donette Arcos has joined Peak Barr Petralia Inc. as promotions specialist, a newly created position. Arcos has an broad-based background in media events and promotions, which is an extension of earlier experiences in media analysis and buying. She has worked in broadcast, print and outdoor advertising.

Michael MacInnes has joined the CPA firm of Rex Meighen and Co. as tax manager and business consultant. He earned a master's degree in accounting from the University of South Florida College of Business. Elizabeth Gilbert has joined the firm as health care consultant. She is a graduate of the University of New York and will work in the health care group in providing assessment and review services for the firm's heath care clients.

Louise Slemp has been promoted to assistant vice president of the Village Bank. Her responsibilities will include overseeing all bookkeeping and operations for all eight Village Bank locations. She has been with the bank since 1985.

Phillip Gerardi has joined TRAC Design Builders Inc. as chief estimator. He is a graduate of the Catholic University of America.

Richard Gibney has joined HDR Engineering Inc. as senior water resources engineer. He earned a master of engineering degree in environmental engineering an environmental resource management and bachelor's degree in environmental engineering from the University of Florida.

Rudy Paraoan has joined the firm of Whitehouse Engineers Inc. as senior structural engineer in charge of design and production management. He brings 27 years of building design experience in commercial, industrial, educational, medical and multifamily residential construction to the firm. Aileen Scurato has joined the firm as executive administrator and marketing coordinator. She brings 18 years experience to the firm. The firm has moved to 518 Tampa St., Suite 200.

Tara M. Wall has joined the business law firm of Salem, Saxon and Nielsen as an associate. She practices civil and commercial litigation. Wall earned her bachelor's degree from Marymount College, magna cum laude, and her law degree, cum laude, and a special certification in environmental law from Pace University School of Law.

Mark B. Rosen has been awarded the Accredited Adviser in Insurance designation and diploma by the Insurance Institute of America for successfully completing three courses and national examinations that test for knowledge of insurance coverages, marketing concepts, selling techniques and agency sales management. Rosen owns and operates an expert witness, litigation consulting and industry insurance consultant business in Brandon. He also was awarded the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation in 1977.

Andrew Steinharter, an officer of Toner Communications Inc., has been transferred to the Florida office of William M. Mercer Inc. He is an associate in the health care practice and has experience in the design and funding of benefit plans including managed care and flexible benefits. He is a graduate of St. Lawrence University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in economics and a master's degree in management from Baruch College in New York City.

Donald A. Gifford of Shackleford, Farrior, Stallings and Evans was designated to serve as legal counsel for the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce for 1997. He will serve as a member of the board of governors and as a member of the executive committee.
