Construction tears into peace

Heavily armed Israeli soldiers push back Palestinian demonstrators Tuesday marching to the construction site in East Jerusalem to try to stop bulldozers from tearing into the disputed Har Homa hillside.

The housing project for 30,000 Jews threatens to unleash another battle in the fight for the holy city. In a radio address Yasser Arafat urged Palestinians not to resort to violence. But Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu charged that Arafat has ordered terrorist attacks against Israel. Story, 2A
