One person was killed and three were injured in a head-on crash Tuesday night on N Dale Mabry Highway near Hillsborough Avenue.
A Toyota Corolla heading south at high speeds on Dale Mabry about 9 p.m. crossed the concrete median before striking a northbound Dodge pickup head-on, police said.
The Corolla's driver died in the collision. The man's name was not being released late Tuesday pending notification of relatives.
A woman and two girls in the truck were taken by ambulance to St. Joseph's Hospital, where they were being treated Tuesday night for non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The Toyota was going at least 70 mph, Tampa police Officer B. Shegstad said.
"I do not know, at this time, if alcohol was involved," Shegstad said.
Traffic was diverted off Dale Mabry at Hillsborough to Sligh Avenue. Southbound lanes of Dale Mabry were closed for about 90 minutes.
