Man charged with battery after dispute with relative

An argument between two family members outside an auto repair shop Sunday left one man with his jaw fractured and another in the county jail, according to authorities. Richard Donald Redmon, 49, of 8890 E Freeman Court in Floral City, was charged with aggravated battery. According to a Citrus County Sheriff's Office report, Claude Redmon, 47, also of Floral City and described only as a family member of the defendant, got into an argument with Richard Redmon at the C

G Body Shop at 3808 S Florida Ave. about 8 p.m.. Claude Redmon said he left the shop and the defendant followed him outside. Claude Redmon said Richard Redmon struck him in the face and chest several times. Paramedics took Claude Redmon to Citrus Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for a fractured jaw. Richard Redmon told deputies there was an argument but denied there had been a fight. Later, he told deputies Claude Redmon hit him first. Deputies reported that Richard Redmon did not appear to have any injuries. He was arrested and transported to the Citrus County Detention Facility, where he is being held on $5,000 bail.
