Brain injury group lists events

Have you suffered from a head injury?

The West Pasco Brain Injury Association will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Columbia Regional Medical Center at Bayonet Point, 14000 Fivay Road, Hudson. Gail Anderson will talk about "Boosting the Body's Natural Healing" and the ancient art of magnetic benefits. Bring a snack to share. Call Elaine Cox at (813) 863-6104.

The group will go bowling Wednesday at Hudson Bowl, 14523 U.S. 19. Arrive by 3 p.m. for bowling at 3:15. Cost is $1 a game and shoes are free. For people who wear shoes with braces, you can bowl in them. A wheelchair bowling ramp is available.

The group now has 13 regular bowlers and seven cheerleaders. For information on the bowling, call Darlene Levoy at (813) 863-5306.

The East Pasco Support Group meets on the first and third Tuesday of the month at the East Pasco Medical Center in Zephyrhills. For information about this group, call Ray Dykeman at (352) 588-3685.

Urologist will

speak to group

Ramon Perez, a urologist and interstitial cystitis physician, will be the guest speaker when the Interstitial Cystitis Support Group meets from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Urology Healthy Center, 5652 Meadow Lane, New Port Richey. New members are needed.

Diabetes screenings

set at hospital

In observance of American Diabetes Alert, an annual campaign to identify people who have diabetes, free screenings for diabetes will be offered from 7 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Columbia Dade City Hospital, 13100 Fort King Road, Education Center B, on the south side of the hospital.

The American Diabetes Association reports that 1,700 new cases of diabetes are diagnosed each day. The screening is a simple finger-stick blood glucose test and it takes one minute. If possible, do not eat before the test. If you work and cannot attend, call (352)

521-1133 for information on other screenings.

The hospital's Diabetic Support Group will meet from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the education center. This month's topic is physical activity and exercise programs for diabetics.
