Helping young science students see the light

Published Oct. 1, 2005

Teachers and day-care and afterschool instructors had a chance to learn new ways to make science fun during a seminar Tuesday at Largo Narrows Nature Park. Above, Lynda Taylor inflates a balloon while program coodinator JoAnn Ruble laughs. The balloon will help demonstrate how a jet engine works using forced air. Right, paper cut in a windmill shape will begin to twirl because the heated air above the lamp will move faster than the colder air around it. The seminar was designed to demonstrate easy and inexpensive experiments to entertain and instruct students.
