Nuremberg prosecutor to speak

Whitney Harris will speak on "Tyranny on Trial" at 5:30 p.m. today in the Grace Allen room on the fourth floor of the University of South Florida Library, Tampa campus. The only American to be awarded the Legion of Merit for his services at the Nuremberg Trials of former Nazi officers,Harris is the author of Tyranny on Trial, the Evidence at Nuremberg, the first major book on the court proceedings. Harris is the featured speaker at the inaugural lecture of the Werner and Anne Von Rosenstiel Lecture Series. For more information, call 974-1654.

Magic and math lecture at USF

Harvard University professor of mathematics Persi Diaconis will speak about "Mathematics and Magic Tricks" at 7:30 p.m. today at the University Lecture Hall, USF-Tampa. A former magician, Diaconis will use magic tricks to illuminate some of the mathematics used by computer scientists, probability analysts and others. Diaconis also will discuss how magic depends on ideas from discrete mathematics, ideas that can be applied to subjects ranging from robot vision to rhyming patterns in Indian music. The lecture is an installment of the USF Department of Mathematics' Nagle Lecture Series, designed to raise public awareness and interest in mathematical aspects and applications. Hospice sponsors job fair

Hospice of Hillsborough hosts its fourth annual Spring Open House and Job Fair from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. today at 3010 W Azeele St. Due to the agency's growth, Hospice is offering 25 full-time, part-time and per-diem employment opportunities. Individuals attending the open house will have the opportunity to tour the facility and learn more about the organization from human resource staff members. The primary mission of Hospice of Hillsborough is to provide quality, supportive care to individuals with life-limiting illnesses and to their loved ones. For information, call 877-1770.
