Parents can have their say in a new choice plan for Hillsborough schools at a series of public meetings beginning today.
Last year, state legislators told school districts to give parents more choice in where children attend school. To qualify for funding, Hillsborough officials must submit a plan to the state Department of Education by June 30.
Special assignments, alternative schools and magnet programs already offer parents some choice. The new plan could expand those options and add others, such as "attractor" schools, which could offer day care.
Parents are invited to share their ideas for the plan.
All meetings are from 7 to 9 p.m.
