Hasek to miss two games

Sabres goalie Dominik Hasek has a hairline fracture in one of his ribs and will not start two games this weekend, the team said Thursday.

Hasek had been sore for the past week since he was accidentally kicked March 8. The Sabres recalled Martin Biron from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League as an emergency backup to Steve Shields against Washington today and Florida on Saturday.

Hasek is expected to recover fully before the playoffs begin next month. The 32-year-old goaltender has a 35-17-9 record with a 2.33 goals-against average.

The Sabres, holding onto third place in the Eastern Conference playoff race with a 37-22-11 record, have 12 games remaining.

SENATORS 2, PANTHERS 2: Jody Hull scored at 1:40 of the third period and visiting Florida salvaged the tie.

Tom Fitzgerald took a shot at the Ottawa net from the left side and the puck deflected off Hull past goaltender Damian Rhodes, who was making his first start in 11 games since sustaining a calf muscle injury.

Ottawa began the night four points behind Washington and Hartford for the eighth and final Eastern Conference playoff berth.

The game featured the debut of center Kirk Muller for the Panthers.

Muller was traded from Toronto to Florida on Tuesday.
