Art show awards presented

Area art students were awarded ribbons and cash prizes at an artist's reception held at Center Place and sponsored by the Women's Service League.

Winners in the junior high category were: two-dimensional division, Kevin Schaeffer, first, and Shane Zofnas, second. In the three-dimensional division, first place was David Lee and second place went to Joshua Stockwell. Honorable mentions went to Sean Carroll and Austin Clopeck. Senior high winners in the two-dimensional category were James Ballinger, first, and April Burress, second. Third place went to Nick Meriwether and honorable mentions were given to Brian Hoop and Erin Mulvihill.

In the three-dimensional category, winners were Michael Cribbs, first, and Castellano Felipe, second. Donald Yoder took third and Scott Porter was honorable mention. Center Place offered 695 art classes in 1996 with more than 7,000 students in attendance.

THE COUNTY

WUSF-FM 89.7 is continuing with Robert Parker's Jazz Classic in Stereo program with selections from Henry "Red" Allen. A complete cross-section of his work from 1927 to 1957 is being featured. Performances include Allen playing with great jazzmen, King Oliver, Louis Armstrong, Luis Russell and Clarence Williams. The program airs at 8 tonight. For information, call 974-4890
