The Buehlmans

Ralph and Helaine Buehlman celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary March 17, 1997. They were married March 17, 1941, in Davenport, Iowa, and moved to St. Petersburg from Chicago in 1979.

Mrs. Buehlman was a housewife and secretary/treasurer of a radio station they started in Geneva, Ill. Mr. Buehlman retired as a licensed radio broadcast engineer after 43 years. He engineered more than 6,000 radio broadcasts of major league baseball, hockey, basketball and football events during his career.

They have one son.

The Clarks

John and Elizabeth Clark celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a surprise Caribbean cruise given to them by their sons and daughters-in-law.

They were married March 15, 1947, at Broadway Presbyterian Church in New York City and started spending their winters in Gulfport in 1988.

Mrs. Clark was born in Worcester, Mass., and is a graduate of Springfield High School (Vermont) and St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in New York City. She was an administrative assistant for Blue Cross-Blue Shield in Boston and retired as administrator for Cape Cod Hospital, professional services department.

Mr. Clark was born in Montreal, Quebec, and is a graduate of DeLamenais Plateau High School (Canada). He served in the U.S. Army for 21 years.

They have three sons and five grandchildren.

The Leibys

Edward A. and Mary Jane Leiby celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary March 22, 1997, at a friends home in Gulfport. They will continue the celebration March 23, 1997, with a candlelight dinner at La Cote Basque Winehouse in Gulfport and a birthday party for Mrs. Leiby on March 24, 1997.

They were married March 10, 1937, and moved to Gulfport from Alliance, Ohio, in 1949.

Mrs. Leiby retired in 1980 from Equifax in St. Petersburg and was a member of Women's Business Club in Clearwater. Mr. Leiby was a car salesman for Dimmitt Chevrolet/Geo in Clearwater and retired as sales manager for Ross Chevrolet Inc., in St. Petersburg in 1980. They are members of First United Methodist Church of Gulfport.

They have one daughter, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The Vannattas

Floyd and Margaret Vannatta celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary March 20, 1997, with dinner at HD Cafeteria in St. Petersburg.

They were married March 20, 1937, in Illinois and moved to St. Petersburg in 1948.

Mrs. Vannatta retired from Foley Carter Insurance Agency in St. Petersburg. Mr. Vannatta retired as an engineer from Florida Power Corp., in St. Petersburg.

They are members of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in St. Petersburg and have two sons, four grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
