Liar Liar, Jim Carrey's return to lighthearted farce after his dark Cable Guy, earned an estimated $32-million for Hollywood's biggest-ever March opening.

The weekend gross was nearly three times that of second-place Selena, starring Jennifer Lopez and Edward James Olmos, which debuted at $11-million, according to industry estimates Sunday.

The last weekend before tonight's Academy Awards also lured audiences to four Oscar-nominated films.

Sling Blade was in seventh place with $3-million, The English Patient and Jerry Maguire were tied for 10th with about $1.9-million each, and Shine was 11th with $1.3-million, according to Exhibitor Relations Co.
