'BAMA BUMMED

This was supposed to be The Year at Alabama. Poll voters, preseason magazines, fans and coaches all figured the Crimson Tide was a sure thing for the Final Four and a good bet for a national title. The Tide came up four wins short of its ultimate goal, however, after an 87-71 upset loss to Notre Dame in the East Regional semifinals Saturday.

"I think it was a matter of chemistry on the basketball team," said coach Rick Moody. "Chemistry means you have to have all different parts functioning properly at the same time _ the outside game and the inside game. We went through a couple of games at the end where we didn't shoot the ball as well as we did earlier in year. People packed the zone in on us and that was hard to overcome."
