Nell Taylor and Jim Pitts were named Woman and Man of the Year at RSVP's annual luncheon Feb. 26 at the county auditorium. About 375 attended, and Dr. Kevon Arthurs was master of ceremonies.
A 10-year volunteer with Hospice of Citrus County, Taylor is a member of the crisis team and recently helped to initiate "Caring Friends of Hospice," a membership drive.
Cookie Vargas of Hospice, who nominated Taylor, and Jim Fowler, chairman of the county commissioners, made the presentation.
Pitts was recognized for his work with Home-Delivered Meals and for organizing Elder Helpers, volunteers who assist older adults with grocery shopping, picking up prescriptions and traveling to doctors' offices.
He has been meals coordinator for the meals program since 1991. During the one or two hours daily at the site, he coordinates the distribution of the meals from the food service company to their destinations.
