A flatbed truck carrying aluminum sheds burst into flames Tuesday after it fell off Interstate 4 onto 26th Street in Tampa. Driver Glenn Comneck, of Apopka, told authorities the truck went over the guard rail after he swerved to avoid traffic that had stopped suddenly. He sufferedminor injuries.
The burning truck initially threatened the highway above, but authorities doused the flames with foam.
Drivers wait along I-4 for troopers to clear the westbound lanes after the 8:40 a.m. accident. With flames 40 feet high, the fire initially threatened the highway above but authorities successfully doused it with foam. There were no other injuries, but I-4 westbound was closed until 10 a.m., officials said.
