Neighbors were suspicious. They noticed a wave of people visiting Hope Hauser in her house last October, and they called their community police officer to investigate.

Officer Charlie Burns checked out the house at 5720 17th Ave N, finding just what neighbors had said about a steady stream of traffic. He assumed drugs were being sold there, and he referred the case to vice detectives.

But it was no drug house. Investigators Monday found nearly 1,000 pornographic videotapes that had been illegally copied, then organized according to sexual preference.

Hauser, 38, was charged with the unauthorized copying of recorded material. She was released from the Pinellas County Jail after paying $1,000 bail.
