Kirk Luchman, Florida State's 6-foot-10 center-forward, is questionable for tonight's championship game against Michigan.

He suffered a badly bruised right ankle with 3:06 left in the first half of the semifinal win over Connecticut. He spent the rest of the game on the bench with his sneaker off and an ice pack wrapped around the foot.

"We're trying to get Kirk ready," coach Pat Kennedy said. "I thought we could get Kirk and Robert Traylor (Michigan's 6-8, 300-pound center) together and have a little sumo wrestling match before the game. I say that tongue in cheek because we really need Kirk. (Trainer) Sam Lunt worked very hard on Kirk (Tuesday night). We'll see how he feels."

TOURIST CLASS: Michigan coach Steve Fisher couldn't wait to get the Wolverines' Wednesday morning practice over with.

"Our players are not allowed to be tourists, but families and coaches are," he said, "and we've got the Empire State Building to go to, and the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. I paid some money to get my grandparents' name, DiBernardi, on someplace out there, and I've got to make sure it's there."
