HILLSBOROUGH OBITUARIES

BODDIFORD, EVIE, 77, of Tampa, died Sunday (Oct. 26, 1997) in Tampa. She was born in Barnesville, Ga., and came to the area in 1940. She was a homemaker and a member of Riverside Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, G. Derryl and Tracy Dean, both of Tampa; a daughter, Cheryl Harrison, Columbia, Mo.; three sisters, Dovie Kirk, Fort Walton Beach, Edra Whidden, Tampa, and Kitty Breland, Greenville, S.C.; and six grandchildren. DECKER, DICK "COACH," 55, of Tampa, died Sunday (Oct. 26, 1997) at Mease Hospital. Born in Cortland, N.Y., he came here 36 years ago from Ithaca, N.Y. He was a marketing representative in the insurance industry. He was a parishioner of Incarnation Catholic Church. He was a coach for the Tampa Bay Guardians, Police Football League. He had coached basketball at Incarnation Catholic School, wrestling and football at Jesuit High School, and football at Berkley Preparatory School. Mr. Decker also coached Little League and girls softball throughout the Tampa Bay area. He was one of the founders and coaches of the Tampa Youth Football League and was founder of the "Turkey Bowl," which benefits the Children's Home. Survivors include his wife, Susan; a son, Dennis Patrick, Charleston, S.C.; two daughters, Kelly Anne and Tracey Elizabeth Decker, both of Tampa; his mother, Helen Decker, Tampa; a brother, Thomas, Raleigh, N.C.; and a sister, Patricia Spencer, Binghamton, N.Y. LYON, MICAELA "MICKIE," 70, of Tampa, died Monday (Oct. 27, 1997) at home. A native of Panama, she came to the Tampa area in 1968 from Sarasota. She was a homemaker. Survivors include a son, William, Clearwater; a daughter, Linda Lyon, Tampa; a sister, Lucy Dietz, Tampa; and two grandchildren. McCULLOM, CATHERINE P., 92, of Tampa, died Monday (Oct. 27, 1997) in Tampa. A homemaker, she came to the Tampa area in 1982 from her native St. Louis. She was Christian. Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Weis, St. Peters, Mo., Mary Ann Cronley, Atlanta, Donna K. Power, Germantown, Md., and Karen C. Mantei, Tampa; a brother, Hugh Ronan, St. Louis; a sister, Darline Palmer, St. Louis; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. MOBLEY, ROBERT E. "BOB," 59, of Tampa, died Tuesday (Oct. 28, 1997) at home. He was born in Indianapolis and came here 20 years ago. He worked in the construction industry. He was a Navy veteran and was a member of the American Legion and of the Lions Club International of Town 'N Country. He was Protestant. Survivors include his wife, Wanda; a son, Robert G., Brandon; a daughter, Concetta Mobley, Tampa; and four grandchildren. PIPPIN, SHELLEY L., 90, of Plant City, died Tuesday (Oct. 28, 1997) at home. He was born in Louisiana and came to the Tampa area in 1920. He was a farmer and a member of Berea Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Myrtice; five sons, Earl, Riverview, Carl and Roy, both of Plant City, Ray, Spring Hill, and Fred, Apollo Beach; 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
