Palm Harbor man indicted in fire set five years ago

Three men were indicted Tuesday in connection with a deliberately set fire that destroyed a four-unit residence five years ago.

The indictment, unsealed Tuesday, charged the owner of the Utica property, Joseph F. Kaminski, 39, of Palm Harbor and his brother-in-law, Steven J. Lazarek, 41, of Yorkville, N.Y., with conspiracy, arson, mail fraud, wire fraud, and using fire to commit insurance fraud. Also charged with conspiracy, mail fraud, and wire fraud was Joseph Kaminski's brother John, 33, of Utica.

According to the indictment, the trio conspired to commit arson so that Joseph Kaminski could file a fraudulent insurance claim of $35,000 for fire damage and lost rental income.
