Six people at the Velvet Underground, formerly known as the Blue Parrot, were cited by police Wednesday for dancing without occupational licenses.
The women, ages 18 to 20, were issued misdemeanor citations after agents with the state division of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco entered the club, 6121 4th St N, at 6 p.m. for an inspection. Police, who accompanied the agents, were told by the owner that the women were independent dancers. When they were asked for their licenses, the women could not produce any, police said.
The dancers must appear in court on Nov. 21 or pay a $130 fine within 10 days.
