She is not the soup Nazi. But she says she is sometimes referred to that way, most times in a joking manner.
"Everyone started coming to my place for my homemade soups," said Beverly DellaGrotta, the owner of Della's Delectables. "They are very popular. I started (in 1989) with two soups of the day and now I make six to eight different kinds every day."
Recently DellaGrotta sold five gallons of her chicken pot pie soup to the lunch hour crowd.
Some of her other gourmet soups are broccoli cheese, baked cheese potato, cream of butternut squash, split pea, white bean and ham, and black bean vegetarian chili.
Grilled chicken breast on pita with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, olives, grilled peppers, onions, pepperoncinis and a creamy herbed sour cream sauce costs $3.95. The chicken salad, with celery, grapes and almonds on a choice of bread is also $3.95.
For breakfast the restaurant offers egg bagels, egg croissants, breakfast pizza and homemade cinnamon rolls "while they last."
