Four Brandon High School students were arrested Friday after they beat a fellow student and bruised his face in a fight Thursday, Hillsborough sheriff's officials said.

Clifford Roberts, 18, of 5613 Cookman Drive, was charged with two counts of battery; and Javarus Polite, of 2038 Balfour Circle, 18, along with two 17-year-old boys were charged with one count each of battery, said sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter.

At the end of school Thursday, the four teens attacked a fellow student, a 17-year-old boy, in a hallway, Carter said. The fight was the result of an argument that began in class. The boy's face was swollen and he had a bloody nose.

"When you've got four against one, that's a misdemeanor battery," Carter said. The two 18-year-olds were booked into the Hillsborough County Jail. Roberts was held Friday in lieu of $1,000 bail and Polite was held in lieu of $500 bail. The two 17-year-olds were taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.

In recent weeks, the sheriff's public information office has reported a number of fights at Hillsborough schools. Carter said officials have made it a policy this year to report any arrest at a school to the media.
