WHEN/WHERE: 3:30 p.m.; Alltel Stadium, Jacksonville.

TV/RADIO: Ch. 10; WHNZ-AM 570, WDCF-AM 1350, WWJB-AM 1450, WXCV-FM 95.3, WAMR-AM 1320.

RECORDS: Florida 6-1, 4-1 SEC; Georgia 6-1, 4-1.

LINE: Florida by 20.

COACHES: UF _ Steve Spurrier (79-15-1, eighth season; 99-28-2 overall). Georgia _ Jim Donnan (11-7, second season).

ON THE LINE: For the first time in years, the Florida-Georgia border war means something. The two are tied atop the Eastern Division, with the loser to be all but eliminated from the title chase.

CENTURY MARK: Florida's Spurrier is going for his 100th college coaching victory. He would become the sixth-fastest all-time to reach 100.

DOUG'S BACK: Florida sophomore Doug Johnson returns to his starting job after a one-game suspension for violating curfew. It has been three weeks since Johnson played, in a 28-21 loss at LSU, and four weeks since his last touchdown pass.

COACHING CONNECTIONS: Spurrier and Donnan played against each other in college, with Spurrier's Gators beating Donnan's N.C. State teams in 1965 and '66. Spurrier won the only meeting between the two as head coaches last year, 47-7.

RECORD WATCH: Florida senior RB Fred Taylor, the SEC's leading rusher, needs only 9 yards to move into fourth place on UF's all-time career rushing list with 2,591 yards. Senior CB Fred Weary needs one to break the career interception record of 14.

LAST WORD: Florida LB Mike Peterson on the Gators' remaining SEC opponents, Georgia, Vanderbilt and South Carolina: "They're just snakes in the way, snakes in our path trying to get where we're going."
