What buyers want . . . in a community

What do buyers in Florida, California, Georgia, North Carolina and Texas want in a subdivision? Here's what nearly 5,000 prospective buyers said in a 1995 survey, published recently in Urban Land magazine. Note that convenient shopping, places to meet others and libraries ranked higher among respondents than golf courses.

Which home furnishings do consumers definitely plan to buy in the next year? Here are results of a survey of 1,000 consumers conducted last month by America's Research Group, an organization that specializes in studying the home furnishings industry.
