Inkwood Books birthday sale (noon to 6 p.m., 216 S Armenia Ave.). Tampa's dean of independent book sellers, a cult that can be counted on one hand these days, has survived for six years in this era of book supermarkets. Like the Borders and Barnes and Noble behemoths, the store itself is part of the attraction. Set in a cheerfully painted 1920s wood frame house in Hyde Park, Inkwood doesn't try to sell you a cup of coffee. They keep a pot on because they're glad to have your business and are eager to serve you. Today it's 20 percent off books, cards and calendars. There will be free posters with a purchase and a drawing for prizes. Part of the proceeds will benefit Reach Out and Read, a program sponsored by USF's Pediatrics Department. Call 253-2638.
